If you haven’t heard of Halsey Harkins yet, you will soon. The 24-year pianist is playing a FREE show at the Artisan Hotel Boutique tonight. The 24-year- old native Las Vegan (yes, there are really children who were born and raised here!) is sooo talented I’m betting she won’t be playing too many more FREE gigs.

She specializes in neo-soul, whatever that is. I do know she has a big, soulful, joyful voice. And she caresses those piano keys.

The local music scene already appreciates her skills. She has subbed on keyboards for Wayne Newton and The Jersey Boys.

Doors open at 8:30. Show starts at 9.

And if you haven’t been to The Artisan Hotel Boutique, it’s well, different. The lobby is filled with Gothic art.  Many rooms have a photo of a young Queen Elizabeth blowing a bubble with bright pink gum. The boutique hotel features a European pool, which is marketing speak for topless. (Of course, there are many of these here in Vegas. As we locals say, “toptional.”

The Artisan is the only hotel in Vegas I know of where you can book the entire hotel, starting at $7,500. It has 63 rooms if you have that many friends.
