Do you like Chinese food? maybe Mexican food is your thing. How about great FREE music? Then head out to Bobby Mao’s Chinese Kitchen+Mexican Cantina in Henderson this week-end.
Chinese and Mexican cuisines coming out of one kitchen sounds..eclectic. But it’s not the first eatery in Las Vegas pairing these two favs. Jose Andres’s China Poblano introduced the concept at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. It works!
Yum. Chinese food always is flavored with a good fortune!
You can start with lo mein and follow it up with chile relleno. Don’t miss the Cino de Mao’s fries. (Ha! Ha!) They are thick steak fries topped with melted cheese and refried beans. Picp de gallo, gaucamole and sour cream round out the offering. Probably not recommended by your cardiologist…but worth the risk.
But what’s special Bobby Mao’s is the FREE music every Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Kelly Clinton-Holmes books the entertainers. And if she’s available, she pops in and performs. She has both a great voice and a razor-sharp sense of humor. And if we’re lucky, her husband Clint Holmes, the Grammy-nominated singer, joins her.
But this week-end’s musical line-up is smashing on its own. Tonight is Mark O’Toole, who is a Star Search winner. His voice is one part velvet, one part gravel. He knows how to bring emotion to any song. He started his first band at 16.
Jassen Allen rocks!
Tomorrow night Jassen Allen performs. Jassen is one of the lead singers in Mark Shunnock’s Mondays Dark performances, which raise money for local charities twice a month at The Space. He loves show tunes. He loves rock n’ roll. He can sing anything.
The music starts at 6 pm and goes until 9. You have to pay for dinner but the serenading is FREE!
The restaurant is in the Sunset Galleria mall, so the parking is FREE too.
P.S. Bobby Mao’s patio is dog friendly.
