Las Vegans love musicals. We eagerly away musicals about a government official (Hamilton), about-to-be-evicted tenants (Rent) and really unhappy people (Les Miserables). Just kidding on the last one.
So why not a musical about a radioactivity? Hey, we might have a nuclear button-pushing contest with North Korea. Plus the folks in Hawaii might learn a thing a two.
So head over to the Windmill Library tomorrow at 3 p.m. to see “Curie Me Away.” It’s the story of Marie Curie, a Polish physicist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity.
Today we are trying to get more young ladies interested in STEM classes. Curie was ahead of her time. She became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize in 1903 and the first person-man or woman-to win the award twice…and for two different disciplines. And their daughter Irene won a Nobel Prize too.
Now we can all learn about this through song and dance.
Matheater created the musical. They created a previous musical about calculus. I am not making this up. I do love their name!
The best part about all this is the performance is FREE. I am a season ticket holder of the Broadway Las Vegas series and I can assure you my tickets are far from FREE.
Enjoy Las Vegas. Have a great week-end.
