4-Letter Friday: FREE Fun in Las Vegas

Beth Ellyn Rosenthal, eXp Realty

Everybody on the planet seems to know tomorrow is FIGHT night here in Las Vegas. But it’s also the 141st Kentucky Derby.

How would you like to attend a FREE Kentucky Derby party and maybe leave with some money in your pocket? Then head down to the LINQ Promenade tomorrow for its Kentucky Derby Party. The LINQ is broadcasting all the races from Churchill Downs on big screens everywhere. The big race is at 3:16.

... even kill the horses when the race is over. That would be silliness

I vote for Ocho Ocho Ocho even though the odds are 50-1

The party starts at noon with a FREE concert by Chuck E. Bumps.

At 2 head over to Goorin Brothers for the Derby Hat Context. You can buy a fascinator at Nordstrom’s!  Folks are pretty irreverent here, so the homemade hats should be worth a trip to the Strip. The grand prize is $1000; if you win, you can go inside to the sports book and bet on the fight.

Of course, this being Vegas, many of the LINQ restaurants and bars are concocting special drinks for the day. Have a mint julep for me. Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas and Cayo Mexican Kitchen + Tequila Bar will have outdoor bars, just like at the Freemont Street Experience. Derby cocktails, of course, are not free.

It’s a great week-end to be in Las Vegas. The weather will be gorgeous. Enjoy!
