4-Letter Friday: FREE Fun in Las Vegas

Only  THREE days left to Christmas. I hope you’re all shopped out by now and ready to par-tee. Since you are all shopped out (meaning money is becoming tighter), here are three really fun holiday happenings right here in River City.

Who has an ugly holiday sweater? Me! If you have one, head to the PKWY Tavern Flamingo at the 215 and Flamingo tonight at nine. The owners are holding an Ugly Sweater party. They invite you to “come eat, drink and be ugly.”

Admission is FREE. You’ll also receive a FREE drink if you donate a sweater or jacket, which is going to the Salvation Army of Southern Nevada. And if you win the ugly sweater contest, even more will be FREE.

You do have to pay for the second drink, but there are $5 drink specials. In today’s pub pricing world, that’s almost free!

PKWY (they must know Hebrew because there are no vowels) Tavern boasts it serves up more than 250 beers. The food is gosh darn good, says the Eater Extraordinaire (that would be me), and there are TVs everywhere for the sports fanatics.

I always have a soft spot for the Salvation Army because my father was their attorney (pro bono) in Chicago when I was growing up. So have fun and help the less fortunate.

A Christmas Carol is a classic Yuletide movie. Beth Ellyn Rosenthal, eXp Realty.

If you’ve never see the movie “A Christmas Carol” or just want to see it again for the hundredth time, you can watch it FREE, a gift from the City of Las Vegas. This is the Disney-animated version of Charles Dickens’s famous tale.

The show is 6 pm tomorrow in Centennial Plaza at the Historic Fifth Street School. It’s near east Fremont downtown.

Finally, if you have had enough Christmas, head to one of my favorite funky venues, the Bunkhouse Saloon. Tomorrow night at 8 local singers will cover songs from the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. Whose songs do you prefer? No matter who you chose, you know the music is awe-some.

And yes, this show is FREE too. And yes, the food at the Bunkhouse Saloon is tasty too.

Have a great week-end, Las Vegas. And Merry Christmas.
