Las Vegas, it’s not too early to start Christmas shopping. (You actually only have 104 days.)
So head over to the High Roller Reining Classic Horse Show and Western Gift Show at the South Point Arena at the South Point Hotel, Spa and Casino. The gift show features Western apparel and accessories, from the stereotypical cowboy boots to furniture. The PBR is next month and the NFR is in December, so this is the perfect opportunity to cowboy up and purchase the proper cowboy couture.
The show opens today and runs through September 20, so you can go more than once! I did say it’s FREE, right?
The equestrian event is inexplicably tied to Las Vegas. (You can tell by the name, yes?) The High Roller Reining Classic held its first event at the South Point in 2008. Today it holds a position in the Top 10 of the NRHA’s events.
So what is a reining competition? It’s where Western riders guide horses through a precise pattern of circles, spins and stops. The purpose is to demonstrate the athletic ability of ranch horses within the confines of a show arena. Equine athletes=gorgeous!
Competitors are riding in from ranches all over the world, so it should be a great show. I did say it’s FREE, right?
