Those of us who are old enough remember Sock Hops. They were school and/or church dances were you actually took off your shoes and danced in your socks (when people still wore socks.)
The Suncoast Hotel and Casino in Summerlin is reviving the sock hop, although I’m sure everyone will be keepin’ their shoes on. The FREE dances start tonight and continue every Friday through March 31.
Three live bands perform. They are:
- Las Vegas GoodFellas
- The Kenny Dee Band
- NiteKings
Tonight GoodFellas takes the stage at 6. The fun continues late into the night–that’s 10 pm for us fossils.

There is no cover charge, to reiterate. You do have to buy drinks but there are drink specials. So you don’t have to pay retail.
