Las Vegas locals, I’m sure you’ve driven by the Railroad Pass Hotel & Casino two million times on your way to Phoenix. It’s at that irritating light on the 95 before you head into Boulder City.
Tonight and tomorrow night might be a good time to turn into the parking lot and venture inside the historic casino for two FREE events.
Every Friday night the best singers in southern Las Vegas head to the mic for Karaoke Friday Nights. The vocals start at 9 and go until 1 in the morning.
Tomorrow night the great Martin Mancuso takes the stage. Mancuso is an old-school jazz saxophonist a la Mindi Abair or Cannonball Adderley. The FREE lounge show, old Vegas style, starts at 8.

P.S. While you are there, visit the Safe Room. No, this is not where you lock yourself in when danger approaches. This room houses the safe that held the payroll for both the Railroad and the workers who built the Hoover Dam. The floor consists six feet of solid concrete; the walls are one-foot thick. Try drilling into that! Workers built a vault around the safe when the concrete cured.
Today the vault door is permanently open, so you can explore inside. However, somehow the combination to the safe was lost. Wonder what treasures lie within? Check it out! And this self-guided historical tour is FREE, too!
