Come on. Admit it. You’ve always wanted to do a stand up routine or belt out a song to an adoring audience. But this being Vegas, there’s sooo much talent, it’s pretty darn hard to compete.
Well, Sunday is your day, Vegas. One of my favorite dive bars, the Huntridge Tavern, is holding an open mic session from 9 pm to 1 am. Joshua Ellis hosts.
I can tell you it’s a rush when people laugh at your jokes. I once attended a comedy club and the host invited members of the audience to come to the mic and tell a joke. I couldn’t resist. (Email or text if you want to hear the joke, a la Pulp Fiction.) I loved the adoration. The problem was, I only know one joke, so this wasn’t a good career choice for me.
Besides, if you haven’t been to this stretch of Charleston for awhile, it’s the new cool part of town. It’s becoming.
