Las Vegas, it’s the week-end. To prove that we have culture as well as casinos in LVNV, today’s installment concerns a FREE symphony orchestra concert.
The Henderson Symphony Orchestra kicks off its 2018 season with “Latin Nights.” The eight pieces from South American composers reach a crescendo with the final entry: a piece highlighting Argentinian dances.
The Henderson Symphony, which is one of the few in the world conducted by a woman, Alexandra Arriceche, is composed of local musicians who are college students as well as seasoned professionals, this being Vegas where there’s always a gig available.
The concert is tomorrow night at the Henderson Pavilion. If you’ve never been to the Pavilion, it’s a Las Vegas treasure. It’s a grand outdoor facility that looks like a spaceship. The acoustics are perfect. Every seat is a great one. But if you prefer to lay on a blanket in the grass and look up at the stars while the strains of music wash over you, well, you can do that too.
Kick off (first violinist tuning up the musicians) is at 8.
By the way, ALL the symphony concerts are FREE.
