Mention cities known for their culture and Las Vegas probably isn’t on the list.
Nay! Nay! I say. Here’s just one example.
If you dig symphonic music, tonight the Henderson Symphony Orchestra opens its 30th season. And yes, kids, the performance is FREE! Music on the bill includes:
- Mozart. Symphony No. 38 known as the Prague Sympony (1786)
- Morricone. Gabriel’s Oboe from the movie The Mission (1996)
- Villa Lobos. Brazilian Pieces No. 4 (1887).
Yes, songs from the last three centuries. Eclectic!
It will be a big night because the Orchestra is introducing its new conductor, Alexandra Arrieche. She is fierce, so the music should be both nuanced and fiery.
And the Henderson Symphony Orchestra doesn’t perform in just any concert venue. It plays music at the Henderson Pavilion. This is a covered outdoor facility with tons of seats. But there is a grassy area if you prefer to lie down and stare at the stars as the music washes over you.
See you there, Las Vegas!
