Happy National Donut Day, Las Vegas.
It doesn’t have the gravitas of Monday’s Memorial Day. But FREE donuts? I’ll take it!
Here’s the history lesson. (Sorry, I can’t help myself. I was a history major!) In 1938 Congress christened the day to honor the Donut Lassies. They were volunteers from the Salvation Army whose job was to cheer up the World War II troops. One group baked fresh donuts for those on the front lines. A little taste of sweetness from home!
If you worry you will get a sugar high and can’t drive home, type the code DUNKINDONUTS18 into your Lyft app. You get a FREE rid to the nearest Dunkin’. I assume you will have to pay to get home or just walk to burn off all those calories.

Krispy Kreme: Everything on the menu. No purchase required.
Dunkin’ Donuts: You have to purchase a beverage to score your FREE donut. No worries. They have great coffee.
Walmart: Gobble a FREE glazed donut.
Papa John’s: Papa John’s? How did a pizza place get on the list? Because they are introducing a new offering, warm donut holes. What a great to launch! The catch: You have to order a pizza online, too.
