It’s a four-day week-end. Now that’s a favorite four-letter occurrence. Add that to FREE and you just conjured up a great Labor Day party in Las Vegas.
If you’re interested in horn bands, Las Vegas has the best: Lon Bronson Band. Their tag line is “industrial strength R&B” and they mean it. They do Chicago songs better than Chicago!
Lon, the consummate trumpet player, assembles some of the most talented musicians and singers in Las Vegas to play with his band. Their usual gig, always free, is at Club Madrid at Sunset Station the first Thursday of every month. It’s common for 15 musicians to crowd the stage, often coming from their “day jobs” with the Terry Fator Orchestra (the Mirage), the Rat Back is Back (RioLas Vegas) or Jersey Boys (Paris Las Vegas). The venue seats 300 and there’s room to dance.
This Saturday night, however, the band is playing at a more intimate setting: The T-Spot Lounge at the Tuscany. Here you can get up close and personal; the T-Spot reminds me of those great lounge venues in Vegas in the 1960s. (Yeah, I was there.)
And I did tell you the show is free, right?
See you there!
How to live life like a local.
