What would you do if Cinco de Mayo happened in a galaxy far, far away?
You could party FREE at two kinds of events this week-end, Las Vegas! 🎰
Cinco de Mayo is Sunday, but here in Las Vegas we celebrate all week-end because, hey, this is Las Vegas.

For the record, Cinco de May is NOT Mexican Independence Day. It celebrates the Mexican army’s victory over France in 1862. Yes, I was a history major at Yale before I became your humble scribe, but I digress.
The hottest FREE parties are on the Las Vegas Strip, natch. My favorite party hang-out there is The LINQ’s outdoor promenade. There will be jalisco dancers and mariachi musicians.
At The Park outside T-Mobile Arena, you will find the boisterous Tequila Mania. What’s kewl here is the street taco battle between casino chefs. Why watch TV when you can be there up close and personal?

For those in the Southwest, head to PKWY Tavern on Flamingo and the 215. It’s having a block party fiesta with live music and patio games.
Attendance is FREE at all these events but yah, you have to pay for the frozen margaritas and the Mexican beer.
Tomorrow is May 4th, the date of the “May the Fourth Be With You” festival. The House of Blues is throwing an “Empire vs. the Rebel Alliance“party at 4 pm. The party is FREE. You get 10 percent off the food you buy if you come in costume. But the Mandalay Bay will no allow anyone in the casino in face paint or masks. (You’re welcome! Wouldn’t want you to have to pay for parking for nothing!)
If you want to actually see a Star Wars movie, go downtown to The Container Park. Star Wars: The Last Jedi airs at 7:30 PM. The cinema is FREE.
Last year’s “May the Fourth Be With You” party at The Nerd. Looks fun!
You can paint your face if you are going to compete in the cosplay contest at The Nerd. The bar will be handing out over $4,000 in cash and prizes for a host of Star Wars costume categories. The judging starts tomorrow night at 10. FREE.
Tomorrow is also the Kentucky Derby in case you are bored. The most exciting two minutes in sports!
