Memorial Day week-end marks the beginning of the Downtown Rocks FREE concert series. This year’s inaugural band is Good Charlotte. Joe and Benji Madden’s punk rock band was one of the defining sounds of the late 1990s.
Good Charlotte performs on Fremont Street Saturday
On Fremont Street (where they take FREE seriously). The Third Street stage. Music starts crankin’ at 9 pm Saturday.
If smooth jazz is more your thing, then spend your Saturday night under the stars at Jazz in the Park. If you’ve never been, this is one of the best things my Clark County tax dollars funds. Especially because the concert is FREE.
Clark County’s Parks & Recreation Department, Findley Chevrolet and Nevada Public Radio sponsor these concerts on the grassy knoll-they call it the Amphitheater— at the Clark County Government Center. And parking is FREE too.
You bring a blanket and pack an alfresco dinner. Or, you can purchase food from the food trucks. It’s a romantic and serene scene…and then there’s more? Music!
Raul Midon performs FREE Saturday night
Saturday night Raul Midon takes the stage. He’s a Grammy-nominated jazz guitarist from New Mexico. Midon received Grammy nominations in the Best Vocal Jazz Album category in both 2017 and 2018. And you can hear this great talent FREE!
Finally, here’s a fun event for you and your dog tomorrow out in Lake Las Vegas. It’s the 2nd Annual Lake Las Vegas Sports Club Holiday Play Day. (Say that three times fast!) One of my favorite Las Vegas chefs, Scott Commings, is serving a FREE pancake breakfast from 8 to 10. Then comes the pet fair and parade, which will keep everyone entertained until noon.

Chef Scott won Season 12 of Hell’s Kitchen and supervises the cookin’ at the Downtown Grand and The Stove. Free pancakes from this man. OMG!
There will also be a pickleball competition (for humans, not dogs). FREE.
