It’s a drizzly Friday in Las Vegas. Yet warm, cozy fun beckens this week-end.
Sadly, Adele canceled all her shows (which were going to start tonight) because of Covid. That’s literally $50 million she will have to wait to earn. We locals appreciate her honesty and transparency as well as her ah-maz-ing voice. She will be back!
Las Vegas primo entertainment can be spendy. A front row seat for the Adele show cost $6,160. To put that price in perspective, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said the average monthly expenditure for a typical American household (please define “typical”) was $5,111.
It’s my job, dear readers, to find FREE entertainment for you. It’s not Adele quality, but hey, it’s FREE.
Buckle up ’cause here we go!
Drum Your Heart Out (Summerlin)

If you’re really @%^$#@ about Adele’s cancellation (and so many others on our beloved Las Vegas Strip and Louie Anderson, our own Louie Anderson died today), head to Summerlin Library this Sunday at 3. The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is hosting a World Beat Drum Circle.
So what is a drum circle exactly? It’s where a group of people form a circle and use their hands to beat on drums and other percussion instruments. There is no leader. Everybody just beats away to get in tune with the group and themselves.
Supposedly drumming boosts your immune system (hear that, covid!) and promotes healing.
I know this sounds woo-woo but why not?
Jeffrey Trowler and Community Productions are supplying all the drums and rhythm instruments.
Any one can drum, even small children. So you don’t need a baby sitter. (more FREE!) And the parking is FREE too.
Find Out Who Killed Malcolm X (West Las Vegas)

The biggest questions in modern American history are: Who killed Jimmy Hoffa? Who killed JFK? And who killed Malcolm X? Yeah, I know, I am showing my age…
Well, the movie The Irishman claims Frank Sheeran killed Jimmy Hoffa.
I spent 23 years in Dallas and was fascinated by the Sixth Floor Museum in the actual building where Lee Harvey Oswald pulled the trigger. I believe the Mafia put him up to it because JFK’s administration cut us off from Cuba, the site of their very prosperous casinos. I know this is true because, while I’ve done NO research, I was a history major in college.
But who killed Malcom X, a human rights activist, in Manhattan in 1965?
Abdur-Rahman Muhammad knows. He believes the shot gun assassin is William Bradley. The scholar was featured in the documentary “Who Killed Malcom X” which was directly responsible for exonerating two innocent men who were in prison for 20 years for a crime they didn’t commit. They were cleared of all charges last November, 55 years later.
Muhammad gives his FREE lecture tonight at the West Las Vegas Library as part of Black History Month. I bet there’s drama worthy of Yellowstone.
The program starts at 7.
Groove at the Tuscany Suites (Off Strip)

If you want GREAT live entertainment that’s FREE, you need to know about the Piazza Lounge at the Tuscany Suites & Casino.
The Lounge is an intimate showroom with an over-sized dance floor. Every night of the week someone great takes the stage.
Tonight it’s Kenny Davidsen at his Celebrity Piano Bar. He’s an accomplished pianist and sardonic host. Local entertainers from (expensive) Strip shows show up to sing a song or two.
Every Friday there is a theme, so all the songs kinda make sense. The fun is you never know who’s going to show up.
Davidsen starts playing the keys at 9.
But if you’re free Tuesdays, go see Michael Grimm. He won Season 5 of America’s Got Talent. He is a southern blues artist extraordinaire.
Have a great week-end, Las Vegas!
