FREE Fun in Las Vegas: 4-Letter Friday

Beth Ellyn Rosenthal eXp Realty

It’s a holy week-end for most of us. Passover starts tonight and Easter is Sunday. I have a great Easter egg hunt (read more below). And I make THE BEST matzoh balls. (PM me for the recipe.)

But the Killers, Las Vegas’s most celebrated local band, kicks off their world tour this week-end. And the Las Vegas Philharmonic (yes we have culture as well as casinos) is performing two Beethoven symphonies: No. 2 and No. 7.

But these are not FREE.

But it is my job to suss out the fun FREE events this week-end. Buckle up ’cause here we go!

Find Those Easter Eggs (South)

Easter!

Tomorrow Town Square is holding FREE Easter egg hunts on The Green. Mix 94.1 is a sponsor.

The hunts start every 10 minutes. They are curated by age, so the little kids aren’t wrestling with the big kids for the goodies.

Here are the categories:

  • 1-3 year-olds
  • 4-6 year-olds
  • 7-9 year-olds

You have to bring your own Easter egg basket.

You do have to register. You do that at Town Square. Registration is from 8 to 10 am for all the morning hunts and noon to 2 for the afternoon ones.

The hunts go from 10 -5.

You can also sit for a FREE photo with the Easter Bunny while you are there. The Easter Bunny will be sitting for photos on Easter too.

My question: Why is there not an age category for adults? I LOVE Easter egg hunts!

Enjoy a Concert in the Park (West)

This is Seffarine. Photo: Seffarine

Seffarine Square is a prominent place in Fes, Morocco. Lamiae Naki grew up there. Her musical partner is Nat Hulskamp, who grew up in Portland, Oregon. Together they meld classical Arabic with Andalusian music.

It sounds kinda like a mix of Spanish flaminco, classic Persian music and American jazz. It has a pulsing bass line.

You can hear the duo FREE tomorrow at Bob Baskin Park, thanks to ArtsLasVegas.org. Bring your own low-backed chairs for seating on the lawn.

The music starts at 6:30 pm.

But you can show up at 10 am for the Pop-Up Art Market Festival. Local artists will be selling their wares. The art is NOT free.

Mange at a Food Fest (Downtown)

Music and food = fun in Las Vegas Poster: Vegas Test Kitchen

If you decided Easter brunch is NOT for you, head downtown to the VTK FoodFest. Several chefs from restaurants cookin’ up food at Fergusons Downtown will be showcasing their favorite dishes.

The live music includes Not Together and Sugatone. The FREE music goes from 11:30 to 4.

The Vegas Test Kitchen hosts the VTK FoodFest the third Sunday of every month. So if you decide Easter brunch IS for you, just show up next month!

Shop Vintage (West)

You can see a real 1940s Ford at Gaudin Ford Photo: SVG

This week the Fantastic Indoor Swap Meet (yes, they included the adjective in their legal name) has a vintage market this week-end.

I assume that means it is selling clothes and shoes that I still have in my closet but don’t wear because I am two sizes bigger.

The stuff is fun to look at. You don’t have to buy anything.

I love the prices to enter:

  • $1 for adults
  • 50 cents for “antique people 65 and over”
  • FREE for “newer people 12 and under”

Have a great week-end, Las Vegas.
