Who loves music form the ’80s? Madonna. The Police. Culture Club. Bob Seger. The Eurythmics. Flashdance…What a Feeling by Irene Cara is still one of my all-time favorite songs. But I digress.
If you love ’80s music and FREE is your favorite four-letter word, head to Artifice Saturday night. Downtown’s eclectic live music bar is hosting its Retro Rave. DJ Hecktor Rawkerz and his partner DJ Allen will spin the forgotten sounds of summer from when Ronald Reagan was President.

The dance floor opens at 10 pm and will clear out at 3 am.
Artifice is a kewl hang. (Impressed with my use of millenial slang?) It features three rooms with different flavors and music tastes. The bar showcases paintings and photography from local artists, which gives “culture club” a second meaning!
Sunday is July 14, the fateful day in 1790 when the peasants stormed the Bastille, a prison for political prisoners in Paris. It was the turning point in the French Revolution and the French proudly celebrate that day. Here in Las Vegas, Marche Bacchus is hosting its 12th annual Bastille Day celebration. Because the restaurant serves French food and has a wine store with French wines, natch!

At 6:30 a team of skydivers will land over Lake Jacqueline. (The restaurant sits on the banks of this lovely man-made Las Vegas lake.) There will also be a major balloon release and live music. All these festivities are FREE.
The restaurant, located in Desert Shores, will be serving French dishes from 4:30-9 pm. None of the food is FREE, however.

Anything that costs $1 is FREE in my book. As they say, “close enough for government work!” Did you know Saturday is National French Fry Day? PT’s is offering $1 fries at all its locations tomorrow.
