I love everything about Christmas. It’s too bad it only happens once a year.
Wrong! This week-end Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall is hosting Christmas in July. What a GREAT idea! It’s the casino’s fifth annual artisan crafts festival. And admission is FREE!
Yes, Virginia, Las Vegas has also has Christmas in July!
Of course, all the kewl objects cost money.
But guess what else is FREE? A photo with Santa! Yep, he’ll be there even though it’s just July!

This event is sooo right on so many levels. Most of the vendors will be locals. Supporting Las Vegas artisans is a beautiful thing in my book. Plus, you get your Christmas shopping early. How wonderful is that? Finally, no one on your gift list will know what you paid for their gift because it’s a one-of-a-kind thing.
Christmas in July happens Saturday and Sunday. Doors open at 11 am in the Ponderosa Ballroom.
Looking for something to do tonight? I recommend hearing Genevieve in the Lounge at the Italian American Club. Her moniker is “Lady with the Golden Pipes.” She is the real deal. She sang with the St. Louis Symphony when she was 17. She has performed with Steve Wonder, Nancy Wilson and our own homegrown Mark Giovi. This is the kind of talent we have here in Las Vegas. Ah-mah-zing.
The song bird starts singing at 7:30. The FREE show goes until 11:30.

If you have never been to the Italian American Club, you’re in for a treat. It’s better than the Smithsonian. It feels like you entered a time machine and it’s 1958. Or maybe 1968. You can palpably feel the Rat Pack vibe.
You’ll probably have to stand during the dinner hour, because the dining tables fill the Lounge. But when dinner stops, there is plenty of seating. And the bar is always hoppin’.
P.S. And the food is good too.
