Just two weeks to go until Christmas! There is so much to do in Las Vegas (besides frantic shopping). The cowboys will crown their champions at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. So will UFC 282.
But most entertainment in Las Vegas is super pricey. But this city is known for fun and if you know where to look, a lot of it is FREE. It is my job to suss out the FREE events.
Buckle up ’cause here we go!
Party Watching the Cowboys Wrangle (Everywhere)

Saturday night the rodeo cowboys will crown some new winners. The final night of the finals is always my favorite.
I’m going to head to The Orleans for the viewing party at the Bourbon Street Lounge. Starts at 5:45. I never miss the opening ceremony and the singing of the national anthem; I find that as exciting as the rodeo rides.
Stay for the after party called Buckin’ Bash. Starts at 9. Live entertainment, country dancing and giveaways. I suspect some rodeo cowboys will show up too.
The viewing party is open to everyone but you must be 21 to attend the bash. Both events are FREE.
Attend the Go-Round Buckle Awards (South)

Every night at 11 Flint Rasmussen and Randy Corley present the belt buckles to the winning cowboys. This year the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa hosts the festivities. Hey, all the rodeo livestock is there in the pens, so the locale is perfect!
You get to see the beautiful belt buckles Montanna Silversmiths craft for the event. Boy is their stuff gorgeous!
You don’t have to go to a comedy show if you show up for this event. Rasmussen, rodeo entertainer extraordinaire, is one of THE funniest people I know (And I’ve seen Jerry Seinfeld in person). He is terrific at improv. I have cried laughing so hard at some of his jokes at the Professional Bulls Riders finals.
Corley is the WNFR announcer. His voice is deep velvet. He needs to voice a sleep app.
Head to the Dance Hall after the buckle presentation, where there is top name country talent in concert. Randall King is the performer this weekend. Lots of people two-step.
You can run into your favorite steer roper!
Things should be really crazy tomorrow night because the rodeo is over and everyone can let down their hair and par-tee.
The party goes till 4. FREE.
See a Crazy Good Christmas Show (East)

Mystic Falls Indoor Park is a wooded wonderland in the middle of Sam’s Town Las Vegas. Three times a day there’s a FREE show in the atrium. They have animatronic animals so you think you’re at say Yellowstone. (the park not the TV show.)
But at Christmas the show is a laser-dominated, over-the-top presentation. It reminds me of the Sol e Lumiere shows in Europe. I wish I could make my front yard this bright!
The tagline for the holiday show is, “It really does snow in Vegas!” The best part of this is it only snows in Mystic Falls so the parking lot is clear.
At this time of year, the Mystic Falls shows run hourly from 4-10 except Saturdays and Sundays when they start at 11am. Santa will be there today Friday from 4-8 and Saturday and Sunday from 11 am-3 and from 4-7.
I did say this was FREE right?
Dine with the Departed (West)

I still miss my father, who has been gone 11 years. Yep, I was a Daddy’s girl. I really miss him this time of year.
The Palms may have an event to (kinda) ease my pain. It has a new brunch called “Brunched by an Angel.” Gotta love the tag line: Where VIPS dine with the RIPS.
Shane Farley, a four-time Emmy winner, came up with the idea. Reginald Lewis, Loriann Mans and Christopher Allan are the psychic mediums (media?) who run the .. uh get together?.
The two-hour show starts with live music and brunch. Then the stars connect the diners with their loved ones.
This weekend the first-ever psychic medium brunch is offering a two-for-one. The first ticket cost $75. The second one is FREE. (I could bring my sister but she’s mad at my Dad.)
If you still shopping for Christmas (NOT FREE), two suggestions are Cowboy Christmas at the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Cinch Western Gift Show at the South Point.
Both have unusual gifts. I like that because after I take off the price tag, no one can guess what I paid for their gift because it’s so unique. Just a thought.
Have a great week-end Las Vegas.
