FREE Fun in Las Vegas: 4-Letter Friday

Entertainment in Las Vegas can be very spendy. Four-Letter Friday is a weekly blog that shares kewl things to do for FREE!

The cowboys are here! The cowboys are here!

The 35th Wrangler National Finals Rodeo started its 10 go-rounds last night. I confess I am a rodeo fanatic, having spent 23 formative years in Texas. I even love the smell. But I digress.

They are almost as much fun as the real thing. And sometimes they are better. The South Point Hotel & Casino’s Ram Rodeo Tailgate party has amazing giveaways, which happen when the TV commercials stop the rodeo action.

Tickets to the actual event (where you can enjoy the pungent animal smells) can cost as much as a car payment. But there are FREE viewing parties all over town.

The South Point actually has four FREE viewing parties. They include:

  1. The Tailgate Party in the Grand Ballroom: FREE to all ages
  2. The Showroom: FREE to all over 21
  3. Grandview Lounge: FREE to all over 21
  4. Silverado Lounge: Free to all over 21

My beloved red cowboy boots from Texas. Polishing them before I head out!

The doors open at 6. Rodeo action starts at 6:30. (Don’t miss the dramatic opening ceremonies, including someone very famous singing the national anthem) and go until about 9, when many of the equine and bovine athletes come back to the hotel. They live in the stalls at South Point Arena.

You can dance the night away in the Showroom until 11 pm. Stay put for the Go Round Buckle Ceremony. That’s where the winning cowboys and cow girl receiving their hard-earned prize, their winner’s buckle. The Buckle ceremony is also FREE.

Aaron Watson provides the music this week-end at the South Point

After the ceremony, live music keeps the boots scootin’ until 2 am. This week-end Aaron Watson and his band make the music.

If you can’t get tickets to the live event, see it with wild and crazy radio fans at the Silverton.

My favorite country station, 102.7 The Coyote, is sponsoring the WNFR at The Silverton Hotel Casino. The station’s DJs MC the event inside the Veil Pavilion. Also FREE.

This party is open to all ages, so bring the kids!

After the show, Ned LeDoux performs this week-end. This party ends at midnight.
