Las Vegas is one of the entertainment capitals of the world. But tickets to shows and concerts can be spendy. This blog is designed to find kewl things for you to do in Las Vegas this week-end FREE.
Don’t have a date for Valentine’s Day? These days it doesn’t matter. Here are two events for us singles.
Singles Night Out

Place on 7th in downtown Las Vegas on Fremont Street is hosting a Singles Night Out christened “Love Bites.” It’s on Valentine’s Day (tonight) and it starts at 7. Entry is FREE!
What I love about the event is singles are encouraged to bag their ex’s stuff and bring it to the shindig. The folks at Place on 7th will donate it to the Rescue Mission. Beautiful!
DJ Trimble starts spinning the tunes at 8 and the party lasts until 10. Then you can go out on Fremont Street and watch the tourists gawk at the performers because you know they have never seen almost naked people where they come from. Always fun!
There will be drink specials but alas these are not FREE. Neither is the parking. Park at the city lot called Fremont Street Experience Parking Garage; it’s the cheapest place to park.
Shred Your Ex

Apparently these downtown event planners have had some bad break ups. The Gold Spike, also in downtown Las Vegas on Fremont Street, is having a Shred Your Ex party tonight.
You get in FREE when you bring a photo of your ex. The organizers will shred it before your eyes. Voila! Catharsis!
Starts at 10 and goes until 3. So you can do both I-hate-my-ex parties if you can stay up!
Asia Jade hosts. Two DJs will keep the music going: DJ Trentino and DJ Freddy B.
Now where did I put that photo of him? Can you still get in FREE if you’ve already shredded all the photos? I guess that is a rhetorical questions.
Ethel M Cactus Garden Valentine Lights

For most people in Las Vegas, Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate romance. Here is one of my favorite places to spend with my honey without spending money.
Just don’t get too near the plants. Cacti are mean! I had to have my manicurist pull out some of the thorns when I was first learning how to plant these desert wonders. Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!
The chocolatier is hosting a Lights of Love display in its cactus garden. Admission is FREE starting at 5 pm so you can enjoy the lights on the cactus after sundown. Just get there by 10.
The cactus garden is actually Nevada’s largest cactus collection and one of the biggest in the world. There are over 300 species of cacti and succulents. Most were planted in 1981, so they are big! Someone must have been wearing kevlar to put the lights on these babies.
But with the moon and the lights, it’s an absolutely romantic place to be.
The factory store is open and nothing in there is FREE. Unbelievably delicious but not FREE. I have to stay out of there because I never met a piece of chocolate I didn’t like, especially chocolate filled with liquer, which is what Ethel M Chocolates is known for. Just sayin’.
P.S. Did you see the new Forbes list of billionaires that appeared this week? Two of the Mars family scions are on the list. (Ethel M stands for Ethel Mars.)
