FREE Fun in Las Vegas: 4-Letter Friday

Beth Ellyn Rosenthal eXp Realty

Las Vegas is one of the entertainment capitals of the world. But tickets to shows on the Strip can be expensive. This blog is devoted to help you, my loyal readers, find FREE things to do for fun this week-end.

The weather is gorgeous, so I’ve selected some kewl outdoor things to do this week-end. FREE.

Fit Fest at Skye Canyon

Run in three races or take a Silent Shavansana yoga class

Skye Canyon is a new master-planned community in the Northwest off the 95. The developers call it “a base camp for the great outdoors.”

Saturday is the community’s Fit Fest. There are fitness events of all kinds. FREE.

Are you a runner? There are three races for you:

  • 5K
  • 8k
  • 1 mile fun run

Are you a yogi? Take a Silent Shavasana class. Everybody gets a headset. Yogis hear the music and the instructions from the teacher through the head phones. Just bring your own mat. The class will be on the grass.

Watching a Silent Shavasana class is a trip. Everybody is moving in unison…in silence.

Kids can climb the rock wall or join in the field day games.

If eating is your idea of working out, enjoy the farmers’ market. The produce, of course, is not free.

There are 13 different communities in Skye Canyon. Walk through the models and drool. I always get great remodeling ideas from the builders who are up on everything. (P.S. Tell the builders you are my client!!!!!!)

Races start at 7 am. The fun ends at 1.

Art in the Park at the Downtown Container Park

Art in the Park is Sunday

The Downtown Container Park hosts Art in the Park the second Sunday of every month. And the second Sunday is Sunday!

The best part is the FREE live music. But local artists will be showcasing their art. Vendors will have artisan goods. (also not free.) It’s a home grown, home town festival.

Starts at 2 pm and ends at 6.

Susan Anton at the Summerlin Library

A FREE show!

In the late 1960s and early 1970s ( you may be too young to remember but I sure do!) iconic musicians like Joni Mitchel, Jim Morrison, Carole King, Crosby, Still, Nash and Young, the Mamas and Pappas, Buffalo Springfield, the Eagles…(I could go on) congregated in a canyon in the Hollywood Hills to make music. In my opinion, they wrote some of the greatest rock music of my lifetime.

Susan Anton is showcasing their music in a show called “Canyon of Dreams.” Jeff Neiman, who was Clint Holmes‘s music director, and his band are providing the music for Anton.

Anton, who was second runner-up in the Miss America pageant, has appeared on Broadway and hosted “The Great Radio City Music Hall Spectacular” at the Flamingo Hilton back when it was the Flamingo Hilton.

The performance begins at 7:30 at the Summerlin Library.

Can you believe this show is FREE? Another reason I LOVE living in Las Vegas!

Have a great week-end, Las Vegas!

((hugs)) BETH Ellyn
