With one day sliding into the next during our pandemic, it’s hard to know what day it actually is. But believe me, today’s Friday. It’s the week-end. Here are some (safe) and fun things to do. FREE.

Mostly Mozart

Classical music is calming. Love the harpsichord!

One of my favorite things about living in New York City was Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival. It happens every August. My apartment in Harlem didn’t have AC in the mid-1970s, so I’d take the No. 1 train downtown to drink in the music and enjoy the cool environment.

Lincoln Center launched the Mostly Mozart series in 1966; back then it was America’s first indoor summer music festival.

Mozart, who lived in the 1700s, wrote over 600 pieces of music. If you want to know about this musical genius, watch a movie on Netflix. My favorite is Amadeus, but there 11 to chose from.

This year the festival was cancelled. Surprise. Surprise. But it lives on if you listen to internet radio. New York’s WQXR is dedicating every hour through Sunday night to Wolfgang Amadeus.

Go to a movie! In a theater!

Seeing a music in an actual theater!

AMC is opening its two movie theaters on August 20. On that day, all the available tickets will cost 15 cents. That’s what admission costs in 1920 at the chain’s original movie house in Kansas City, Missouri.

That’s as close to FREE as you can get!

AMC has two multiplex theaters in Las Vegas: one in Town Square and the other at the Rainbow Promenade.

Some of the movies you can see for 15 cents are:

  • Back to the Future
  • Grease
  • Star Wars: Episode V–The Empire Strikes back.

The theaters can only sell 30 percent of the seats per the Governor’s social distancing order. Buy your tickets early online.

Dunkin’ Donuts FREE Coffee

Looks good right now!

To get you back into your pre-pandemic coffee habit, Dunkin’ Donuts has just introduced its first FREE Coffee Mondays. I told you about Dunkin’s FREE Donut Fridays that ran from March to May.

This promotion is only for the month of August, so you have three Mondays left. (Thank good this August had five Mondays.)

You can get your FREE medium coffee hot or iced.

Here’s how: You have to become a DD Perks member. Just download the app and you’re in.

Have a great and safe week-end, Las Vegas.
