Las Vegas boasts it is “the entertainment capital of the world.” While that may be a boast, it is certainly true that world-class entertainers love performing in Las Vegas. There is a show for everybody!
Life is Beautiful and the iheartRadio Music Festival are both this week-end.
However, performances like these can be spendy. But there are tons of things to do that are FREE. It is my job, dear readers, to suss out these awesome opportunities for you.
iHeartRadio Music Festival (The Las Vegas Strip)
The iHeart Radio Music Festival brings together entertainers from all areas of music and comedy in a two-day extravaganza. Tickets start at $205 and go to $1,996. Hardly FREE.
Tonight’s line up includes Cheap Trick, Darius Rucker, Dua Lipa, FINNEAS, J. Cole, Nelly, Weezer, Florida Georgia Line and Walker Hayes.
Tomorrow night’s line up includes Billie Eilish, Coldplay, Journey, Khalid and Lil Baby. (Told you we were in the running for Entertainment Capital of the World.)
The presenters arepPart of the fun. They are celebrities who say the funniest (sometimes stupidist) things that add to the glee.
Ryan Seacrest hosts. The other luminaries include 8 Degrees, Debbie Gibson, Teddi Mellencamp, Derek Hough, Chrissy Metz, Olivia Jade, Maddie and Kenzie Ziegler, Joey McIntyre, Donny Osmond, Jana Kramer, Tayshia Adams, Asher Angel, Area21, CL, Olivia Holt and MAX.
But here’s how to hear it for FREE.
Turn on an iHeart radio station. Here in Las Vegas it’s Sunny 106.5, 93.1 FM The Mountain, 95.5 FM The Bull and Real 103.9.
You can actually watch the show live on the CW app and on CWTV.com. The CW Network always broadcasts highlights from the show. This year it will be on October 2 and 3.
If you have the money, this is one to splurge on. I have seen Robin Williams (rest his soul), John Legend (who is actually also in town for show), Blake Shelton and Jamie Foxx at iHeartRadio festivals in the past.
Full Moon Hike at Valley of Fire State Park (Overton)
I love Valley of Fire State Park. My oh my. Mother Nature showing her desert power!
Can you imagine it at night? Monday night you’ll get a chance to see it by moonlight. It is the park’s Full Moon Hike.
You have to be there any time after sundown. The park closes at 10.
Head to the White Domes Trail, which is at the end of White Domes Road.
The trail has stone steps and may have some difficult patches. It takes about an hour to complete. It’s labeled “easy” but I’d say intermediate in the dark.
It does cost $10 to get into the park. It is FREE if you have a Nevada State Parks annual pass.
Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day in Henderson (Henderson)
Did you know today is halfway to St. Patrick’s Day? Thankfully the city of Henderson and Southern NV Sons & Daughters of Erin were paying attention.
Tonight and tomorrow night there is a big celebration. The first ever. FREE. At the Water Street Plaza.
Dress up in your best St. Patrick’s Day attire.
There will be FREE live Celtic music. Plus FREE Celtic entertainment which I assume means dancing. There will also be a “little lads and lassies zone.”
What’s not FREE is the Whiskey and Wine Walk Saturday night. Here is the link for tickets: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/whiskey-and-wine-walk-tickets-164923301033.
From 5-9 tonight and 10 am to 9 pm tomorrow.
Have a great week-end, Las Vegas!
