Las Vegas purports to be the Entertainment Capital of the World. (It comes close anyway.) But the grandest entertainment is spendy. (Worth it….but spendy.)
It is my job, loyal readers, to find tres fun things to do FOR FREE in Las Vegas this week-end. Buckle up because there is a lot going on.
Summerlin Festival of Arts (duh Summerlin)

Las Vegas is known for its glitz on the Strip. But our town also attracts talented artists.
Tomorrow and Sunday Summerlin will showcase the visual arts at the Summerlin Festival of Art on the lawn at Downtown Summerlin. Attendance is FREE.
There are three different tracks to enjoy:
- Spotlighted artists. 100 artiss are selling their original works, which includes oils, sculpture, mixed media, photography and jewelry. My fav is Niki Sands from Henderson who gives Van Gogh a run for his money.
- Student art exhibits. Twelve students from Bishop Gorman High School demonstrate their talent in ceramics, acrylics, gouache, watercolor and oils.
Events. These include:
Live music (table stakes at all Las Vegas events)
The Art of the Classic Car, presented by the Classic Ford Club of Las Vegas. These cars will be on display on Festival Plaza Drive. You know about me and my affair with the ’69 Mustang….
Autumn Sand Art. You can make your own. Sounds fun!
All the FREE fun goes from 10-5 both days.
I like buying Christmas presents at these arts fairs because then no one knows what you spent.
Fergusons Downtown Pride Event (duh Downtown)

Seven different events Saturday, five on Sunday.
Saturday is the Drag Contest. The prize gift bundle is worth $225 so you can only imagine the wild outfits that will prance down the runway… because this is Vegas!
Aerial artist Dani Steel will perform on her lollipop pole.
Sunday is music, then capped with a comedy show called Don’t Tell. The line up is secret, so I’m sure there will be some big names on stage.
Saturday from 8 pm to midnight. Sunday noon to 6 pm. The comedy show is at 8.
All FREE but you have to register at Eventbrite.
Watch the Addams Family at Downtown Container Park (duh Downtown)

Sunday night is movie night at Downtown Container Park. This month all the selections focus on Halloween.
This Sunday night’s move is Addams Family. But I can’t wait to see Beetlejuice again.
The movies are FREE. The film starts at 6:30.
Sip FREE Guinness (Henderson)

The eighth annual Guinness Perfect Pint Challenge happens tomorrow at PT’s Ranch at Eastern and Pebble.
Bartenders from all over will be there to win cash prizes. They have to pour the perfect pint, whatever that is. (I guess we will find that out tomorrow.) Supposedly it’s really tricky.
During breaks the bartenders will teach the bystanders how to pour a pint correctly. And guess what? You get to drink FREE what you pour.
The pints are free from 6-7 pm. After that they are $4.
Have a great week-end, Las Vegas.
