Can you believe Christmas is NEXT week? It feels last week was the Fourth of July. Since you are charging up a storm, I have collected some fun FREE things for you to do in Las Vegas this week-end. Because, you know, this city is one of the fun-nest places to live (and visit).
Look up! FREE Fireworks at Green Valley Ranch (Henderson)

Grucci just announced it will have 11,500 custom fireworks to ring in the new year on the Las Vegas Strip. The company will need 60 technicians and another 70 as support staff to launch all these from eight Strip resort rooftops.
But why wait? We pyrotechies can start with tomorrow with a big show, also produced by Grucci.
Green Valley Ranch turns 20 tomorrow. Wow! Twenty years goes by fast. I remember watching the fireworks when Green Valley opened its doors and the night sky exploded with fireworks. For all y’all non-locals, parent company Station Casinos always had a fireworks display the night it opened a new casino.
I used to park in the old Henderson Pavilion parking lot to watch the fireworks from there. But alas, it is no more. The fireworks start at 9 so I’d get to The District early to find a place to park.
If you don’t want to join the crowds in the resort’s Backyard pool area, then watch the livestream on any of the casino’s social media sites. Its handle is @GVRCasino.
Sing along at West Winters’ Christmas Holiday Show (South)

If you tired of hearing all that Christmas music on the radio, you will get re-energized when you hear it live. Hey, all those singers make Christmas albums for a reason: the songs rock!
West Winters is hosting his Christmas Holiday Show tonight at the Grandview Lounge at the South Point Casino. (Yes, the cowboys have all gone home.)
He’s going to cover all your favorites but you can request a tune too.
FREE but be warned: you will probably want to get in the spirit and order a toddy.
If you are worried about omicron, watch the show on Facebook Live from 7-8.
Ride a Covered Wagon at The Gilcrease Orchard (Northwest)

I love The Gilcrease Orchard. For those who have never been, it’s a working farm. You pick your produce and then pay by the pound. I didn’t know pumpkin plants had thorns until I went there and picked some!
Elda and Leonard Gilcrease planted the orchard in 1920. Today the orchard is owned by a non-profit. It is a 60-acre patch of some of the most fertile farming area in Las Vegas.
Yes, Las Vegas is a great place to farm. I grow Anna apples and Meyer lemons. But I digress.
The Orchard has a wagon that drives you through the the farm after dark. Christmas lights blaze on the wagon and the orchard is decorated too.
The wagon rides run from 4 to 8.
Oh, Santa will be there too. An elf assists.
It’s not free–the cost to get into the orchard is $4 per person. But that’s free to me.
Wear an Ugly Sweater for a FREE Drink (Strip)

Everybody loves these ugly Christmas sweaters but I really like ’em.
So I will have no trouble showing up Sunday night at the Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer Restaurant at the Venetian. The eatery is hosting an Ugly Sweater Holiday Party from 7-10.
Anyone who shows up with an ugly sweater will get a FREE Winter Noggin’ drink. This is basically eggnog without the eggs. And yes, it has plenty of bourbon, cinnamon and whipped cream, which I consider basic food groups.
Have a great week-end, Las Vegas.
