Can you believe Christmas is next week? For a horrible year, time actually flew by. I’ve selected some kewl things to do to celebrate the holidays this week-end.
FREE Cocoa at the Trop

Want to enjoy a “Holiday in Paradise”? Tropicana Las Vegas has decided to go big this year and light up the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, which happens to be the busiest intersection in Las Vegas. But I digress.
The Doubletree by Hilton hotel (points!!!!) has a magical Christmas display, which runs through January 3.
Stare up at the 20-foot-tall Christmas tree. More local flora, palm trees, are wrapped in sparking Christmas lights. There’s even a 10-foot tall poinsettia photo op wall. Both are staged so you can take selfies, natch.
You can enjoy a FREE hot chocolate too. Here’s how:
Take a photo with the Tropicana logo in the background. Go to the kiosk and the folks there will give you a wristband for your free cocoa. Adults over 21 can spend $10 and add a shot of Bailey’s, Kahlua or Jack Daniels to their chocolatey delight.
Here’s what the logo looks like:

This offer is available tonight and tomorrow night as well a December 26 and January 1. The offer runs from 4-7 pm each day.
Check Out These Famed Decked-Out Houses

Las year Maria and Juan Torres won ABC’s “The Great Christmas Light Fight.” They have scaled down their display this year because of COVID-19. They don’t want to attract big crowds when that invisible virus is in the air.
But the house is still decked out. Check it out at 532 Zuber Avenue in Henderson.
This year the show featured Jeff and Karol Doody‘s creativity. They live at the intersection of Home Light Street and Shining Light Avenue. Don’t you love the irony? The formal address is 7951 Home Light.
Displays like this take time, skill and Santa’s workshop full of technical know-how. I love how the colorful lights just pop in their natural black background.

Learn Some Alvin Ailey Choreo

Alvin Ailey is known as one of the founders of American modern dance. The choreographer and his friends gave a performance at the 92nd Street Y in New York City in 1958. The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater was born.
Master teachers Nasha and Michael Thomas and former company members teach you how to dance some excerpts from Ailey’s famous works.
Hey, no one will be watching you because you’re at home in front of a computer! I’ll be there…and I’m still learning how to twerk.
The FREE workshop is tomorrow at 11 am PST. Here’s the URL: alvinailey.org/performances-tickets/virtual-winter-season/schedule.
Have a fun and healthy week-end, Las Vegas.
