I love/hate NASCAR weekend. I adore the excitement around the event. I hate the traffic on the 15. Ah, the price to pay for extreme fun.
Las Vegas can be a pricey place (talking about dollars). For example, if you want to watch our upcoming F1 race in front of the Bellagio Fountains, a three-day pass will run you $11,247. (Not a typo.)
In fact, show tickets have become so expensive you can now finance them. Yep, pay them off on a monthly basis.
But you have me, dear readers. I will suss out the fun things to do in Las Vegas this weekend for FREE. Buckle up ’cause here we go!
FREE Food…But You Have to Grow It! (Everywhere)

Tomorrow is FREE tomato day at Star Nursery, my favorite store after Lowe’s. There’s no purchase necessary.
You will receive a baby four-inch Early Girl tomato.
This is one of my favorite days of the year. I nurture this plant and have fresh tomatoes all summer long. You have never tasted a real tomato until you grow it yourself!
FREE food!!!!!
Watch NASCAR (Everywhere)

Of course I want local Kyle Busch to win.
You can drive the Las Vegas Motor Speedway at Christmas. But I can’t drive it like these cars can!
The Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube starts today. Tickets are just $23 today but jump to $64 Sunday for the big race. Kids 12 and under can get in for just $10 (almost FREE) with a ticketed adult. Gotta get these kids hooked early!
You can watch the race FREE almost everywhere. I actually like the Whiskey Licker Up Saloon at Binion’s Gambling Hall. It attracts a distinctively NASCAR crowd. Plus I like the Drunken Burger.
While you’re downtown, there is a FREE Racejam performance by Granger Smith with Earl Dibbles Jr. at the Fremont Street Experience.
Check Out the Volley Ball from Castaway (Downtown)

What do you do when money is no issue? Jim Irsay collects things.
The owner of the Indiana Colts loves rock music, American history and pop culture. He’s been collecting kewl artifacts for decades.
He wants to put it all in a museum but until then it travels around the country. Tomorrow Saturday the collection opens at the Downtown Events Center. Admission is FREE.
You can see:
- Secretariat’s saddle
- Janice Joplin’s guitar
- The offer of $100,000 to find Abraham Lincoln’s murder
- President Kennedy’s pen
- The Beatles drum kit
There will also be a FREE concert including Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Vince Gill and Stephen Stills of Crosby, Stills & Nash.
The shindig starts at 5:30. You do need a ticket to enter. Go to Eventbrite to sign up.
If You Have Money:
Keith Urban, Jimmy Buffet, Don Felder and the Las Vegas Philharmonic all perform this weekend.
Have a great weekend, Las Vegas!
