Can you believe Thanksgiving is only three weeks away? Where did 2022 go???
It went by fast because we had so much fun. That continues this week-end. The Who is in town. Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp (yes, that Johnny Depp!) are playing music too. However, all the great entertainment in Las Vegas is pricey.
No worries! You came to the right place. It’s my job, dear reader, to find FREE fun in Las Vegas this week-end. There is sooo much to do.
Buckle up ’cause here we go.
Food! Wrestling! Live Music! at Sunset Park’d (East)

What happens when you invite 30 of the best food trucks in Las Vegas? Add a Snake Pit wrestling tournament? Plus have a microbrew tasting? Answer: Sunset Park’d.
Of course we love the clever name because the festival takes place at Sunset Park from noon to 8 tomorrow Saturday. Everything is FREE except the food and liquor.
The entertainment sounds super entertaining. You will find me at the Snake Pit Pro Wresting Pit. The main event happens at 6 when The Warlord of Weird Sinn Bodhi takes on The Demigod of Death Funnybone.
The matches start at 1 with a three-way fight.
If music is more your thing, head to the Findley Chevrolet stage where live music happens from 12:30 to close. Kids from the School of Rock perform for the first four hours. Listen to future Vegas legends!
As for the food trucks, all the usual suspects will be there like Hot Diggity Dog LV and Just Jerk LV. But there will be four vegan food trucks including Tacotarian and Yaqui Zen Kitchen.
There are only 53 days until Christmas (I know), so do bring some money and visit the 12 Vegas crafts booths at Sunset Park’d. I like giving crafty gifts because the recipient has no idea what you paid…unless you forget to take off the price tag.
Love Comic Books? This Festival Is For You (East)

Faithful readers of this blog know I feature the happenings at the Clark County Libraries often. For example, the Clark County Library and the Summerlin Library have gorgeous, well-tricked-out theater spaces that equal theaters at some of the smaller casinos on the Las Vegas Strip.
Tomorrow the Clark County Library hosts the Las Vegas Comic Book Festival. This is it’s 14th year. The event is FREE.
You can dress up and cosplay. (You have to leave the weapons part of the costume at home….) There will be lectures and workshops because, hey, this is a library and education is its thing.
If you want to spend money, shop the vendor courtyard where they will be selling-you-guessed it-comic books.
The food trucks that won’t be at Sunset Park’d will be parked in the library parking lot. There will be live music too.
9:30 to 4. Parking is FREE too.
Groove to Live Jazz (West)

Who has seen Barry Manilow in Vegas? He is as great a comedian as he is a singer/songwriter. His show is fantastic but alas far from free.
Maybe you didn’t notice his keyboard player. His name is Joey Melotti. And you can hear him and his ban FREE tonight at Maxan Jazz Sushi and Jazz. They include Walter Jones on bass, Y.L. Douglas on drums, Bill King on trumpet, Steve Meyer on trombone and Mat Schumer on sax.
The show is from 7 to 10. The music is gratis but the hamachi is not.
P.S. One of my favorite songs from the 70s is “Turn the Beat Around” by Vicki Sue Robinson. Guess who plays the keys on that song too? I’m telling you, the Vegas talent bench is deep.
Savor Jewish Foods at a Food Festival (West)

My eastern European grandmother, who grew up on a farm and who taught me how to butcher a whole cow, was a legendary Jewish cook. I loved eating at her house.
I am spiritual but not religious. But I am religious about Jewish cuisine.
Jewish Nevada is holding its fourth Jewish Food Festival this Sunday. Entrance is not FREE but costs $5, which in our inflationary environment is as close to free as it gets.
Kosher food vendors will be there offering all kinds of foods including my favorite: the sweets (which was my mother’s domain.)
Don’t miss the food demonstrations by Chef Nanny Bubby Marla Letizia. Bubby means grandmother in Yiddish, so that’s all the credentials she needs in my book.
At Tivoli Village from 11 to 3.
Have a great week-end, Las Vegas.
