Night hikes in the Las Vegas Valley

Most people come to Las Vegas for the neon lights. But some come for the stars. You can see plenty of them on night hikes in the Las Vegas valley.

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park offers two guided night hikes a month. (They correspond with full moons.) The park is on state route 159 just 10 miles west of the Las Vegas Beltway (AKA the 215.)

The next hikes start at 7 p.m. September 29 and 30.

One night the group will hike the Ash Grove Trail. It’s a 1.5 mile hike through the largest grove of Arizona ash trees outside of Arizona. In addition, hikers will traverse two of the park’s five natural springs.

The other night the group will explore the Sandstone Canyon Trail. Hikers will spy a sandstone cabin along the trail.
