Want To Drive Your Car on the LV Speedway?

Beth Ellyn Rosenthal, eXp Realty

Fire up your engines, Las Vegas. This Sunday you can complete three laps at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in your own car! By the way, this is the same track that the NASCAR drivers will race on in the Kobalt 400 on March 8. (Fascal Flatts will be singing the National Anthem. But I digress.)

Push the pedal to the medal for 1.5 miles and see how fast your car can go. Well, you do have to drive behind the pace car, which will be going no faster than 75 miles per hour.

And you don’t have to drive a car. Trucks and motorcycles are welcome too.

The only rules: You have to be at least 18 to participate and have the entry fee of $30. You can buy three more laps for only $20 more. Be sure to bring proof of insurance!

Here’s the coolest part: You can have your picture taken in Victory Lane for an additional donation of $10.

The event runs from 11-7.

January 25 is the fifth annual Laps for Charity fund raiser. All the proceeds benefit the Las Vegas Chapter of the Speedway Children’s Charities. Since its inception in 1999, Speedway Children’s Charities has granted more than $2.5 million to Las Vegas’s children’s causes.

So, blogosphere, should I take the Focus or the Tundra to the event?
