Locals and tourist alike love watching Las Vegas wildlife. Here are two FREE options this week-end.
Visit the Las Vegas Strip after 10 pm tomorrow night and people the people parading by. FREE!
Or, get up early tomorrow morning and head out to Cornerstone Park in Henderson for the Bird Walk, hosted by Project GREEN: Friends of Pittman Wash. Also FREE. Meet at the Picnic Pavilion at 8 am.

The great blue heron is gorgeous says Beth Ellyn Rosenthal, eXp Realty
Cornerstone Park has a 31-acre lake in the middle of its 100 acres. The lake has transformed the park into teeming wetland habitat. Yes, siree, a teeming wetland right here in the desert. A gorgeous oxymoron.
The spring migration is over. But you’d be surprised how vibrant the year-round avian residents are, even in our triple-digit heat. Hopefully we will see:
- Pie-billed grebes
- Great blue herons
- Snowy egrets
- Red-tailed hawks
- Mourning doves
The park has lots of duck and geese. I live just two miles from Cornerstone Park. During the breeding season the ducks just waddled down my street. I took this photo with my phone. I still see one or two adults on my neighbor’s grass if I walk my dogs before 7:30 am.
Have a great week-end, Las Vegas and Henderson.
((hugs)) BETH Ellyn
