Yes, Las Vegas, it’s hot again. That’s why it time for some cool jazz. And what’s better than FREE cool jazz?

The inauguration Jazz in the Park fest
Downtown Container Park gets into the downtown jazz trifecta Sunday afternoon. For three hours you can hear live jazz from The Funk Jam. (The other great places for jazz in Las Vegas as Myron’s Cabaret Jazz at the Smith Center and the city’s FREE Jazz in the Park festival which starts May 12.)
The Funk Jam, like the Las Vegas Tenors, started out as a jam session. A group of musicians (there are lots of great ones here in Las Vegas) got together to jam with no rules–just pure improv. Eventually locals started attending these jam session. Now they have a huge local following. There last gig was at the Brooklyn Bowl at the Linq.

A live FREE concert at Downtown Container Park
This group NEVER rehearses. They don’t even talk about what they are going to play. They just make up everything on the spot. (Sounds familiar!)
Do you want to funk with me? (That was a 1982 song by Patrick Cowley. Groan.) See you there!
P.S. The best place to part is at the Neonopolis Garage owned by the city. Or any of the street meters. Here is a map and the costs.
