After living in Las Vegas for decades, I am still amazed at the wonders on the Las Vegas Strip.
But another great thing about living in Las Vegas is its dive bars. These are hidden away in corners of the city. But the offers another version of kewl.
All of the dive bars feature 24/7 gaming, because, hey, that’s the highest profit per square foot in this gaming town. Most feature really tasty and deliciously affordable food. And the best ones are also a close-up, live music venue where you can hear talented musicians play their hearts out to appreciative fans.
One of my favorite dive bars that does all three is The Dispensary Lounge on East Tropicana. This part of town grew up during the Rat Pack days and you can still feel the Old Las Vegas vibe. Las year the bar won Best of the City from publication Vegas Seven and Best Dive Bar from the Las Vegas Review Journal‘s Best of Las Vegas readers poll.
Adele and Doug Bellas opened the bar in 1976 and still own it. They like to say their bar is a Las Vegas “prescription for fun.”
The music The Dispensary Lounge features is jazz and rhythm and blues. Here is the line up for this week-end:
Tonight: Toscha Comeaux at 10 pm
Tomorrow: Michael Delano at 10 pm
Sunday: Joe Darro at 6 pm
By the way, you know you’re in the right place when you see the red door. Come on in and enjoy!
Have a great week-end, Las Vegas!
