Say Amen if you think it’s gotten expensive to see headliners on the Strip. How would you like to see some great Strip performers FREE tomorrow and Sunday?
Then head out to Downtown Summerlin for the 23rd Annual Summerlin Festival of the Arts.
Here are the highlights for the Main Stage tomorrow:
Noon: The Australian Bee Gees
12:45 David Goldrake
1:30 Gary Flowler
2:15 Jeremy Cornwell
Sunday’s schedule looks like this:
11:45 Jase Neron
12:30 Legends in Concert
2:00 UNLV Jazz Ensemble
2:45 Bishop Gorman Marching Band
3:30 Lannie Counts
If music and magic aren’t your thing, how about checking out Darren Kensington, a Las Vegas jeweler with Lyght Jewelry and Fine Art, who will be forging silver and gold rings and bracelets right before your eyes! If you like watching folks getting their hands dirty, really dirty, the Nevada Clay Guild will conduct pottery demonstrations. (These are at 11 and 2 both days.)
I love my Ford. (It’s a Focus, but still.) So I’m not going to miss the Art of the Classic Car presented by The Mustang and Classic Ford Club of Las Vegas. I will wax nostalgic about my first boyfriend’s 1966 Mustang. Turned out I liked the car more than him, but that’s another story.
Anyone who has spent any time at Downtown Summerlin knows the center has some of the kewlest restaurants this side of the 215. The food art carving demonstrations are FREE but alas, you will have to pay for the food at the restaurants.
There will also be balloon artists and face painters for the Kinder. Another interesting activity for kids of all ages: Faith Lutheran High School’s engineering honor students will show you the robots they built. Super kewl.
Summerlin Festival of the Arts is a good example of why it’s sooo wonderful to live in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Strip and the local community, including college and high school kids, all come together for a fun afternoon. All performing FREE.
Have a great week-end, Las Vegas.
P.S. While you are there, send some positive ju-ju to our Vegas Golden Knights.
