4-Letter Friday: FREE Fun in Las Vegas

Beth Ellyn Rosenthal, eXp Realty

Tomorrow night is New Year’s Eve, THE biggest night in Las Vegas. Last year 229,999 of my closest friends joined me on the Strip for the festive count down and fireworks.

The trouble is, you have to get there by 5:30 pm because the county closes down all the roads leading to Rome. That means you have a lot of time to enjoy Las Vegas until all the casino marquees start the final minute count down. I typically have dinner, go to a show and then pour out onto the Strip about 11:30 with the rest of humanity.

But a lot of that time is spent drinking. And you know who’s watching us drivers at 1:30 am pulling out the parking lot? The DUI party police, that’s who. NB: A first-time DUI conviction in Nevada can cost up to $12,000 in fines, penalties, legal fees and increased insurance rates. And here they make you do restitution too…

So your helpful Las Vegas Real Estate Concierge has a solution for the drivers who have had one-too-many or are just pooped-out party-goers who are not used to staying up all night (like moi).

It may not be the coolest thing to do, but the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada is providing FREE rides on all bus routes from 6 pm tomorrow to 9 am Sunday morning. For the record, The Deuce will run east of the Strip along Paradise Road and Koval Lane when carrying passengers from Mandalay Bay to Fremont Street. The Strip & Downtown Express will run west of the Strip along Dean Martin Drive.

I am a member of Triple A. But even if you are not, it’s Tipsy Tow program will offer free lifts for up to 10 miles. Call 800-222-4357.

This solves the parking problem too. And remember, now you have to pay to park at Strip casinos.

You are welcome!
