Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away, Las Vegas was one of the entertainment capitals of the world. Now, an invisible thingy that can kill you has killed most of that.
But even though there are no shows on the Las Vegas Strip, bars and restaurants are open. And FREE FUN is still possible in Las Vegas. Here are some options.
Adopt a pet!
People have discovered pets are a wonderful addition to a household in a pandemic. If you don’t have one already, you can adopt one this week-end FREE…because many of the local shelters are waiving adoption fees this week-end.
Pet lovers Dave and Cheryl Duffield’s foundation is funding the event.
Check with your preferred shelter for the covid adoption rules. Many require you to select your pet online at their web sites. You fill out a form. You can to meet your new dog, cat or rabbit when you show up.
Petco and PetSmart are also participating. You can actually check out the animals in the store.
The photo is of Bensley, my 12-year-old Labradoodle, hiking the historic Railroad Tunnel Trail at Lake Mead National Recreational Area. He has his on “backpack” and carries his own water and water dish. I love that dog!

Billy Hinsche FREE concert livestream
Saturday night Billy Hinsche launches his FREE livestream concert series at 7 pm.
For your millenials who don’t know who Billy Hinsche is, he was a member of Dino, Desi and Billy. Dino as in Dean Martin‘s son Dean Paul Martin and Desi as in Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz’s son Desi Arnaz Jr. They were a popular 1960s group. The three went to high school together in Beverly Hills.
Hinsche’s sister Annie married Carl Wilson, the guitarist for the Beach Boys. He started as one of their session musicians and then went on tour with the mega group.
Ever heard the Elton John song, “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me?” Hinsche sang back up on that one.
He’s good friends with John Stamos. (I love John Stamos!) He will be a guest star on the livestream.
